PADI Advanced Open Water Course
Advanced Open Water Diver in Las Vegas
So you received your Open Water Diver certification and your curiosity is calling for more diving? We are not surprised. Take your skills to the next level with the Advanced Open Water course taught by Mana Scuba!
This certification will give you a better understanding of the underwater world and will boost your confidence as a diver. After completing this course, you will be able to dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters/100 feet (or 21 meters/70 feet if you’re under 15 years old).
The Advanced Open Water course includes two mandatory dives (deep dive & navigation) along with three elective adventure dives of your choice. Choose your own adventure! We have created 6 AOW packages with our the most popular combinations. If you prefer a custom combination let us know.
For the Advanced Open Water course, you have a water skills component and eLearning study. You will be expected to complete five corresponding chapters in your PADI eLearning, along with the knowledge reviews, and complete an online sign-off for the course paperwork. Upon meeting all course requirements, you will receive your Advanced Open Water Diver certification (Junior AOWD certification for those under 15 years old).
Before you begin: You will be assigned a code to your Advanced Open Water Diver eLearning and will complete all the five required knowledge reviews. There is no final exam.
Paperwork: You will also receive a set of documents that must be signed online before starting the practical part of the course: Medical Statement, Liability Release, and Safe Diving Practices. In order to participate in any water activities, you must have no contraindications to scuba diving (see PADI Medical Form).
At Mana Scuba: Once your eLearning is completed, your instructor will brief you on your course schedule. You can find our typical schedule below, however, adjustments may be made due to the weather and site availability.
Get credit! Each Adventure Dive may credit toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Course. If you’ve already taken a specialty diver course, ask your instructor if you’ve earned credit for an Adventure Dive.
Equipment: Beyond using basic scuba equipment, you’ll need a compass and dive knife or dive tool. You’ll also use specialized gear depending on the Adventure Dives you choose. For example, you’d obviously use a dry suit for the Dry Suit Adventure Dive or a sidemount configuration during the Sidemount Adventure Dive. Your PADI Instructor will explain the equipment that you need and may suggest additional gear, such as dive light for night diving or lift bag for search and recovery diving.
Getting Started: Contact us to enroll in the course, get your materials and start learning. Let us know your preference for either the Adventures in Diving Manual or eLearning option. Your PADI Instructor will meet with you to schedule knowledge review sessions along with your Adventure Dives.
